Grass Barrier – Landscape Edging – 10 inch Depth

(44 customer reviews)

• Conventional edging does not provide enough depth for both a raised edge and also stop invading grass roots.
• Above ground, Grass Barrier creates a defined grass line and area to retain mulch, gravel or soil.
• Below ground, Grass Barrier forms a wall to shield grass and other invading roots.
• Flexible material is easy to curve & comprised of 100% recycled plastics. Made in the USA.
• Can last over 100 years and provide 200 pound-force of puncture resistance. 12 gauge thickness. (2.5 mm or 1/10 inch)

Don’t just edge your grass, control your grass. Tired of the endless, thankless job of pulling grass roots out of your flower beds? Stop grass roots once and for all. Install Grass Barrier and reduce your lawn maintenance instantly. Create perfect low-maintenance flower beds with beautiful clean lines and no grass! Grass Barrier can also be installed with hardscape borders (rocks, bricks, etc.) for protection from intruding grass.

Grass Barrier is grass edging on steroids. The top portion serves as a defining line to hold back your mulch, gravel or soil. The lower portion is the real workhorse that stops grass roots from growing into your beds. Free up your precious time and install Grass Barrier!

Grass Barrier is typically installed 6″ below the soil with a 4″ lip left above ground. Dig a narrow trench 6″ deep around the perimeter of the flower bed, install Grass Barrier vertically and backfill the trench with soil to secure. If the material needs to be cut or trimmed this can be done easily with a sharp utility knife. Depending on your exact installation this may be adjusted. Most transverse grass roots typically run in the first 6 inches of soil.

Our long lasting barrier is made in the USA from 100% recycled HDPE. Grass Barrier is not brittle like injection molded material and does not splinter like fiber and composites. Our barrier has a smooth surface for a clean appearance and doesn’t hold dirt. We use 100% HDPE plastic so our product will never rust like metal edging. Grass Shield can last over 100 years & has an ASTM D 4833 puncture resistance of 200 pound-force.

  1. Shellie

Was tired of pulling the grass from my flower beds and needed something deeper. Was happy to find this product, hopefully it lives up to its expectation.

  2. Seth

Very durable material, looks like it’s going to work wonders.

  3. Maryland

after years of trying to keep grass and clover from my flowerbeds and vegie garden – finally something that works (so far)
Fairly difficulty to install since its so deep, but this is also what will make it effective

  4. Carol

Quality product I couldn’t find anywhere else. Shipped quickly.

  5. wwindsongwithHim1

Nice edging that was much more easily trimmed than aluminum & deep enough to contain strawberry plants inside & grass outside.

  6. Juanita J.

Will buy it again perfect for bordering my garden and I love the height and durability what a quality product thank you.

  7. Dusty

Bought an 80 foot length. Stretched some of it on a walkway with a few pieces of 2×4 on top and in a day and a half at outdoor temps 40F to 70F it was flat and stable. Cut it with a wood chisel, many little cuts until it was cut all the way across. Easy. Put the piece into place in a 6 inch deep trench. Used 12 inch wood stakes intended for placing concrete forms to help hold the edging where I wanted it to be. Stakes in bottom of trench pounded to barely below earth level. Will leave them there. They will help hold the edging while the earth fill gets solid and then disintegrate on their own. Corners of the edging were intended to be square 90 degree but the flower bed is a trapezoid and letting the edging form its own tight rounded corners around the stakes looks very good. With earth fill the edging is solidly in place. Sticks up very nicely to form a visible boundary between lawn and flower bed. Four stars because the plastic material is a little more flexible than I would really like. For very straight, try screwing the edging to narrow strips of wood board [1×2 or 2×2] and bury the wood at the bottom of the trench. I am very happy with my newly installed edging.

  8. Jags

We haven’t used yet ( hubby pulled a muscle) but we are impressed with the quality! Update: have put around two small trees, it wasn’t as hard to put down as I thought it would be. We dug around one tree, which was the hardest, the other one we went around with a sharp shooter 10″ deep, we had already made circles so we just slipped it over the tree and pushed in, we did use a rubber mallet to knock it even all around, it was much easier than the first one we did, glad the ground was soft enough. Really like the look of it.

  9. Brandon Latham

If you’re capable of digging a trench and want to keep any kind of invasive grass like Bermuda out of the flower beds this is perfect. Good flexibility after leaving out in the Sun for an hour

  10. Lilo Rowan

Very happy with this landscape edging which is 10″ wide. I have Bermuda grass which goes very deep and this is the first product that works well to prevent the grass from growing into my planting areas. Have had good success with using this around my trees to keep the grass away and mowing around them. The company’s customer service is also excellent – I first received an incorrect length and their response was impressive – within 2 days I received the correct amount.

  11. Sunil Verghese

    Great product!

  12. Woodysgirl

Seems sturdy and easy to work with. Installed edging this past weekend. I bought a straight edging shovel used to create a trench. After initial placement I used a rubber mallet to get it into the bottom of the trench. Very happy with it so far. We live in the north and will be interested to see if it stays in place over the winter.

  13. cocao900

Easy to install, looks good. Just waiting to see how it will last thru a Michigan winter. Super easy to cut… Just scored with a razor knife and snap.

  14. michele

This looks really great. We just had a new porch put on and didn’t want grass right up to the porch. It was a little difficult to put in because you had to dig so deep, but it looks great. We backfilled with dirt and put in some plants. Won’t have to worry about grass growing into garden.

  15. Tesseract257

Highly recommended. I used this for a raised bed that was surrounded with landscaping rocks. It has been great at keeping moisture in the flower bed and keeping roots from getting into or out of the raised bed. I plan add smaller 4″ edging on outside boundary of bed as part of a total solution for retaining water and controlling weeds/grass.

  16. Peace4all

Flimsy overall. Nice to look at, but not really well made.

  17. Jay

Not happy with the purchase. This serves more as a barrier and not landscape edging in the sense you would think, which is also what I thought I was buying.

  18. margo

    Not what I wanted really.

  19. Ken

Truly Excellent Product. The grass barrier was simple to install. I took a bar and drove it repeatedly into the ground in a circle around my flower bed. I then pushed the plastic barrier into the groove. It works perfectly to keep grass roots (and even tree roots from a maple tree in my yard) out of the flower bed. My geraniums have never looked better.

  20. Wendy Yacullo

it did what I wanted it to do and makes the garden look neat.

  21. Jackie M

    Worth the time and money.

I think this will keep grass and weeds from creeping in my flower bed; well worth the time and money to put in. My genius landscaper drilled little holes in it and zip-tied them to my fence, which I think will make it more effective.

  22. Vera city

    Great flower bed edging/barrier.

We just installed this but I think it is going to do the trick. Grass in southern CA is so like crab grass and it constantly gets in flower beds so we put this down – it is the deepest barrier I’ve found and then braced it against cobblestone pavers. I think it will keep everything out of my beds. BTW, if you like the galvanized raised beds, got those on Amazon too!

  23. H. Jones

This is truly a professional weed barrier. I don’t want to go to the story of how much pain it cost me to put 9 of these very sturdy 10 inches into hard Georgia clay but I finally got it done. This edging is great not only to keep the pesky and deep rooting Bermuda grass roots out of my project but it will restrict bigger roots as well. I made a flower bed with curvy edges but although very thick, the material was easy to manage after I had it warm up in the sun a bit. This will hold up for years and years to come!

  24. echo

It’s almost August and I’ve had this in the ground since Spring – NO grass is getting through or over. I wish I found this stuff sooner. Will be ordering more for future projects.

  25. Amazon Customer

Good quality! Much thicker than I thought it would be!

  26. Sue3500

I had a 120-foot run to install to keep Bermuda grass from invading my new flower beds. On the first 60 foot run I had to hand dig a trench to get it down far enough then I found a video on you- tube that saved this back-breaking job. I found a trencher called the Wilton trenching spade. It has saved me! So yes I think this is a good product, it is sturdy and should keep the roots from the Bermuda grass from getting to the flower beds but I would also recommend getting the trencher if you are doing a long run!

  27. Cathy Hill

Simple, effective, heavy made material. I plan to buy more

  28. Ingrid Griffin

Works well, no weeds in the garden

  29. Mike C.

Tall edging keeps grass from growing under. Need to dig a trench to install. Unrolled in the sun and lost its memory in 15 minutes. Great product. Will order again when I tackle more flower beds.

  30. Liqueo

grass barrier is amazing easy to cut and work with you wont be disappointed

  31. John S.

Perfect for the job. Heavy material worth it

  32. Amazon Customer

Helpful. We used this behind our Black Raspberry bushes to keep grass back.

  33. Heather J.

Good quality! Very happy with this grass barrier. Although, I used it to keep water away from my cactus. It does the job great!

  34. susan r angle

Does what it said. Hard to dig so deep with rocks in yard. 8” would have worked better for me.

  35. mhudson

Awaiting Use. I have to admit I have decided to save using this until spring. It is everything I anticipated and expect it will suit my needs well, however I cannot actually comment on it at this time.

  36. Elias

    Easy to use. Good Quality

  37. Amazon Customer

Perfect for our front landscaping. Easy to install.

  38. T Taylor

We purchased this grass barrier to keep Bermuda grass from our raised landscape beds. It’s taller than traditional edging making it very effective in keeping Bermuda from encroaching into my landscaped beds from either above or below ground as it can’t get past this barrier. To install we first tried to use a trenching shovel to make a narrow slit along the ground to insert the barrier, but it wasn’t very effective to install it that way and the barrier was very wavy. Installation required a sharpshooter shovel to actually dig a 4″ wide trench to receive the barrier and then back-fill with dirt. But even then there was some wave in the barrier material. I’ve been told the wave will soften over time but I don’t find it off putting. I’ve placed mulch in the protected area and plan to add gravel which should smooth things out too. But even if it doesn’t I’m happy that I’ve FINALLY won the war against Bermuda grass. I’ve just purchased more of this grass barrier to protect my vegetable garden from Bermuda grass too!

  39. 5CarPileup

    Did the job. Good quality.

  40. Jon G.

Sturdy Edging for the Garden. Works perfect. Prompt delivery too. The extra depth really makes this the best product. We actually used it as a border for a sand volleyball court.

  41. Jami L. Hess

Great for edging. We used this as a border for our landscaping stone, we buried it about 8″ down, and it has worked out perfectly. It is SUPER durable, looks nice, and being able to get it in the ground will definitely help keep it in place.

  42. Constance K.

Good block for pachysandra! Good news: goes deep enough to block the roots of the pachysandra from spreading while leaving an above ground block for runaway stems. Bad news: you really have to dig a deep trench to install this stuff but you’d have to do that with any root barrier. It’s been in about a month and so far so good.

  43. Ellen R Balthrop

It works! This 10″ tall plastic edging solved a nightmare in my curved flower beds: bermuda (and bindweed) creeping into the beds under the standard metal edging. This edging was relatively easy to install once a trench had been dug and required a bit of muscle to pound into place with a mallet. Edging easily cut with a blade. It looks great and is doing the job. I dug out the weed infested soil, laid a weed barrier and filled bed with new weed-free soil.

  44. mel

Nice quality, heavy duty material. I purchased it as I am planting perennial peanut sod and you need a wider landscape edging. Only down side is it is very heavy. I ordered 2 300 feet rolls, and the rolls arrived with a label mechanical lift only. So be aware when you purchase that it will be hard to move. The use of a rubber mallet to tamp the dirt on both sides to keep the edging straight does help
